Diamond router bit is diamond edge profiling wheel installed on manual/portable edge grinder. As the smallest section diameter of router bit is equipped with bearings and steel loops, they work to fix when router bit is processing stone edges. That is why special shapes can be made as desired. Diamond router bits are widely applied to stone countertops, vanity tops, sinks, etc.
Electric router is often used. Its spindle diameter is 22mm. M8 or M10 bolts are used to lock diamond router bits onto the router spindle, then water comes in to cool down routing process and remove leftovers. The whole process goes that: an operator puts router bit on the grinder, then gets water in and applies a certain amount of pressure in the routing process. #30 router bits are used to do rough shaping, and the rest is done with router bits in different grits.
A small amount of water is needed when the profiling is done from #1500 diamond router bit, and only a little water should be sprayed on stone surface when buffing begins. This is meant to produce high frictional drag to make stone surface become hot and get softened. The softened surface is good for profiling quality and efficiency. But two things should be remembered: first, long time of dry profiling may lead to excessive heat and partial breakage, which is also called “burnt stone”; second, processing at an over-high temperature may leave the color of bond on stone surface. If burnt stone occurs, you should start over from POS.4. If stone is left colored, you should start over from POS.5.
